JOB SUMMARY
The Lighting artist works under the supervision of the Lighting Supervisor. The Lighting artist is responsible for lighting shots for the full CGI feature film.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for the artistic lighting of an environment, characters or elements within the vision set forth by the VFX Supervisor
- Tasked with assembling a shot from multiple look developed assets, animation files, matchmove cameras, and a standard lighting rig
- Works with guidance from Look Development and Lead Technical Directors to maintain the desired level of aesthetic quality and technical accuracy
- Interfaces with Compositors to ensure that any elements delivered are what is needed to complete the desired look
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
- At least 4 years technical direction experience or examples demonstrating equivalent
- Proven lighting skills.
- Strong sense of composition, light and color
- Proficiency with Maya and Mental Ray for Maya. 3ds Max a huge plus
- Basic MEL knowledge a plus
- Ability to problem solve and predict potential problems with assigned tasks
- Ability to take direction positively, work well within a team, and thrive under the pressure of tight deadlines
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Outstanding organizational skills and the ability to multitask
